This route combines a walk exploring the areas around Wigtown Bay with dinner in a restaurant in Scotland's National Book Town, Wigtown.
Starting at the RSPB reserve at the Crook of Baldoon the route crosses the old wartime airfield and follows the south side of the River Bladnoch to Bladnoch Bridge. It then turns and follows the north bank of the river as far as Wigtown.
Here we visit the actual site of the Martyrs’ Stake, victims of the “Killing Times” and hear about their horrific story before moving onto the nearby church yard to see their graves.
The route then climbs to the monument on Windy Hill via Lovers Walk where there are fine views of the town and beyond.
Supper will be taken at Cobwebs Restaurant in Wigtown which has received fine reviews on the web.
There will be a choice of two or three courses which you will be able to book at registration. Prices quoted do not include dinner.
