This route along the Rhinns of Kells offers plenty of extensive views and a good sprinkling of history.
This year’s route along the Rhinns of Kells starts at Brockloch and adds history and intrigue as we ascend a track towards the Woodhead Lead mines.
Thereafter a stiff climb takes us onto the summit of Corran of Portmark, with its extensive views of Loch Doon.
We then head south to Corserine, passing two airplane crash sites. Our descent, new to Walkfest, along North Gairy Top allows us to visit a third airplane crash site before we tackle classic Galloway tussock grass towards Loch Harrow and the pick-up at Forrest Lodge.
